Batman: The Dark Knight

Last night, I went to the Metreon in San Francisco to see The Dark Knight. Unfortunately, their IMAX screen’s showing is sold out for the entire week. (We might try to see it again on that screen this weekend). We showed up about 45 minutes early, and there was already a pretty long line. The line that formed behind us began snaking around the theatre, up the stairways. By the time we finally were able to get to our seats, all the middle seats had been taken. Fortunately, we found some that weren’t too bad… They were slightly off center to the left, at a decent viewing range (not too high up, not too far down).

I have to admit. I really hate it when a movie is hyped up too much before I get to see it. Don’t get me wrong… the movie was totally deserving of the hype, and I did enjoy the movie very much. But I think I would have enjoyed it so much more if I had been able to see it earlier (not after everyone else I knew had seen it and told me how mind-blowing and awesome it was). When this happens, it just ends up setting my bar so freakin’ high, that I either get disappointed, or not excited enough. In this case, I think i was not excited enough. I just already knew it was going to be good. I had already heard it was good. So yeah, it was good.

I am not a fan of when stars get changed out for roles. I’m not sure why Rachel was switched to a different actress (and honestly, I don’t care enough to Google it), but that always seems a bit jarring to me. It’s like when Gabby was replaced on Ghostwriter. What was up with that??? Unfortunately, it looks like this will be the case again for Joker… though I can’t think of anyone that could top Heath Ledger’s performance.
